At the age of 21 I was given the opportunity to follow my dream and Lease the bar and restaurant at Tintagel Brewery, coming out of covid restrictions in May 2021. After working nonstop throughout covid I was in the fortunate position to do so, I dived straight in with much to learn and improve as we progressed.
Fast Forward to November 2022, my best friend, George Buckley joined our kitchen team. After his small business in Camelford, Nom Nom Gourmet Takeaway was forced to close, due to the squeezing financial pressures that the post lock down hospitality crisis caused.
This is when the Bar & Bistro as we know it Today was born. Both myself and Geroge, now both only 24-year-old, have a clear vision in mind for our establishment.
An award-winning restaurant with one goal in mind. To stand out in North Cornwall, to be recognised as one of the best in the area. Flipping the idea of a brewery on its head. Serving exquisitely prepared dishes using the amazing produce that Cornwall has to offer. Keeping Province by using the quality real ale, produced in the brewery next door, in as many of our dishes as possible.
In June 2023 we won our 1st AA Rosette for culinary excellence, we were both in agreement that it is the greatest achievement of our careers to date, with as far as our knowledge goes, being the youngest restaurant owner and one of the youngest head chefs in the country with this prestigious award that so few achieve.
Moving forward we are developing our amazing team and pushing boundaries as far as we can take them, with aspirations of multiple AA Rosettes and a mention in the Michelin guide in future years.
We look forward to sharing our journey with you all and welcoming you to enjoy our experience.
